My story

History

I've played guitar from age 12 and haven't looked back! I began teaching Guitar in 2002 offering private lessons to a select few and it quickly became my full time occupation. I really enjoy seeing students grow in confidence as they progress from strumming a few chords to quite complex guitar solos. It is good to see students passing exams and performing in bands.

I have been told that I have a relaxed style of teaching, I think this pretty much sums up my style of teaching. I like to make students feel at ease when they are learning new techniques and feel that too much pressure can put people off, this is no good for student or teacher.

I like to motivate students by giving them achievable weekly tasks and very quickly I find that they complete songs and solos confidently. Everybody learns in different ways and at different speeds so tayloring lessons to individuals needs works well.

 
Registry of Guitar Tutors
It was the Musicians Union that suggested I join the Registry of Guitar Tutors, to enable me to give students the opportunity to study for guitar Examination Grades in a structured format.  The RGT are dedicated to offering Electric Guitar players the same opportunities as classical Guitarists. They are partnered with the examination board, the London College of Music and you can gain UCAS points in the higher grades for University entrance. I currently enjoy a 100% pass rate with private students with these grades

MU

As soon as I started teaching guitar it was recommended to me that I join the Musicians Union. They advise me on teaching and insure me for Public Liability Cover, luckily I have never had to use this benefit!

Qualifications

London college of music - RGT Music Performance grades 6 and 8 with distinctions
